Waterfall Maries in Thassos sits near the peaceful mountain village of Maries, about 5 kilometers from Limenaria. The area offers a quiet and natural setting. Unlike crowded beaches, this place provides calm and shade, especially during the summer.

To reach the falls visitors have to follow the narrow road from Maries that leads toward its artificial lake. Although it is a 2,5 km long dirt road, it still allows access by car. A small parking area stands near the lake. From this point, a clearly marked trail begins.

At first, the path winds through olive trees and low forest. After about 30 to 40 minutes, the largest waterfall comes into view. Its water drops into a small, clean pool. Visitors often stop here to relax or take photos. Some people even take a dip in the cold water, especially on hot days.

Unlike popular tourist spots, the area includes no cafés, shops, or toilets. For that reason, visitors should bring water, snacks, and a trash bag.

After the hike, visitors often explore Maries village. Traditional stone houses and narrow streets give the village a charming feel. Several tavernas offer local dishes and refreshments.

Overall, Waterfall Maries offers a refreshing break from the busy coastal areas. It combines forest paths, clear pools, and peaceful scenery. Although simple, the setting leaves a strong impression.
