Kalavryta Ski Center sits on Mount Chelmos in the northern Peloponnese. The base starts at 1,700 meters, and the summit reaches 2,340 meters. This resort ranks as the second-largest ski area in Greece. It lies just 14 kilometers from the town of Kalavryta. Moreover, the drive  takes about 3 hours from Athens and 2 hours from Patras.

The ski resort features 12 marked slopes that total around 20 kilometers. These include two black, two red, six blue, and two green runs. As a result, skiers of all levels can find suitable terrain. Also, a snow park offers fun for freestyle skiers, while a kids’ zone keeps young visitors entertained.

The resort operates eight lifts in total. These include chairlifts and surface lifts that serve all levels of terrain. Lifts and slopes open daily from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. However, snow and weather conditions may affect operating hours, so checking before visiting is wise.

Two chalets serve guests on the mountain. The base chalet provides food, drinks, ski rentals, and a ski school. Moreover, the upper chalet offers more dining space and a place to rest between runs. On weekends, the Kalavryta Ski Center often hosts night skiing events and music at the upper station.

Kalavryta town offers all accommodations and services. Visitors can choose from hotels, guesthouses, and mountain lodges. Local tavernas serve traditional food and warm drinks. After skiing, guests often explore Kalavryta’s historic sites, including the Holocaust Museum and the Monastery of Agia Lavra. The nearby Cave of the Lakes also attracts nature lovers.

The ski season usually runs from mid-December through mid-April. Snow remains reliable during most of the winter. Although weekends can be crowded, weekday visits offer a more relaxed experience. For convenience, ski buses from Athens run regularly. Furthermore, visitors can also ride the famous cog railway (”Odontotos” in Greek) from Diakopto to Kalavryta, which offers stunning views along the route.

To prepare, skiers should dress in layers and wear sun protection. Renting equipment in town saves time and money. Booking ski lessons early helps avoid delays. Those who explore off-piste terrain should carry proper gear and check safety conditions.
