Voras Ski Center, also known as Kaimaktsalan, stands as the highest ski resort in Greece. It stretches between 2,050 and 2,480 meters on Mount Voras in the northern borders, about a 2-hour drive away from Bitola. Because of its high altitude, the resort enjoys reliable snowfall from early December to early April. On clear days, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of Lake Vegoritida, Mount Olympus, and even the Thermaic Gulf.

The resort lies about 16 km from the traditional village of Palios Agios Athanasios. It is also around 35 km from Edessa and 130 km from Thessaloniki. Access is possible by car via well-maintained roads, although snow chains or winter tires are necessary during heavy snowfall. Travelers often combine their visit with nearby attractions in the Pella region like the Pozar Thermal Springs or the Edessa waterfalls.

Voras Ski Center includes 13 ski slopes with a total length of approximately 15 kilometers. These range from beginner to advanced levels, allowing skiers of all abilities to enjoy the terrain. In addition, a snowboard fun park and cross-country ski trails offer more variety. Six ski lifts operate on the mountain—one aerial lift and five surface lifts—helping visitors reach different altitudes efficiently.

At 2,050 meters, the main chalet provides a central hub for relaxation and services. It includes a restaurant, café-bar, ski rental shop, ski school, mini-market, and an infirmary. Moreover, the chalet features a 46-bed hotel for those wishing to stay on-site. Higher up, another small chalet, known as the Snowbar at 2,069 meters, serves drinks and snacks while offering a scenic resting point between runs.

For those looking to explore beyond the slopes, snowmobile rides and hiking paths provide exciting alternatives. Many visitors take a snowcat ride or hike to the chapel of Profitis Ilias, a historic World War I site built by Serbian soldiers. This chapel stands near the summit at 2,524 meters and offers unforgettable views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.

During weekends and holidays, crowds in Kaimaktsalan increase quickly. Therefore, early arrival or midweek visits ensure a better experience. Booking ski lessons and accommodations in advance is highly recommended, especially during the peak season.
