According to legend, Stafilos Beach takes its name from Prince Stafilos, a Minoan ruler. Archaeologists discovered an ancient tomb in the area, adding historical significance to the location. Some believe that Stafilos was one of the first settlers of Skopelos.

The beach is easily accessible by car or bus. A short path leads down from the parking area to the shore. The walk back up can feel steep, but the beauty of the place makes it worth the effort.
