Getting to Katergo takes some effort, which helps keep it quiet and uncrowded. There are two main ways to reach it. First, by boat from Karavostasis, the island’s port. Small water taxis run frequently during the summer months. The ride takes about 15 minutes and offers great views of the coastline. Second, by foot. A hiking trail starts near Livadi and takes around 30 to 40 minutes. Also, the path is rocky and steep in parts, so sturdy shoes and water are essential.

Katergo has no facilities, so preparation is important. Visitors should bring water, snacks, sun protection, and anything else needed for the day. There are no shops, restrooms, or shade on the beach. This lack of development is part of its charm but also a reason to come prepared.

Because of its isolation, Katergo is perfect for those who enjoy quiet and nature. The beach is not suited for large crowds or families with small children. Most visitors come for a few hours and leave before the sun gets too strong. Morning and late afternoon are the best times to enjoy it.
