Ilingas Beach Crete lies along the rugged southern coast of the Chania region, just one kilometer west of Chora Sfakion, and around 74 km south of Chania Town. The beach sits at the mouth of Kavi Gorge and faces the deep blue waters of the Libyan Sea. 

The beach consists of fine gravel and smooth pebbles. Although the shoreline may seem rocky at first glance, walking becomes easier with proper footwear. Furthermore, the seabed slopes gently, which makes swimming comfortable and safe. 

Ilingas Beach divides into three small coves. Rocky outcrops separate these sections, yet all are accessible by swimming or kayaking. The first cove remains the most visited since it lies directly below the access point. On the other hand, the other two offer greater privacy and quieter surroundings. In addition, a few sunbeds and umbrellas are available to rent. While the beach offers some facilities, it still feels natural and unspoiled.

Accessing the beach is easy and convenient. A paved road leads from Chora Sfakion to a small parking area next to the Ilingas Mare Hotel. From there, visitors follow a short stairway down to the beach. Moreover, travelers can walk from Chora Sfakion in about 25 minutes. Public transport also reaches the village, offering another travel option for those without a car. 

Next to the beach, a small hotel and taverna provide useful services. Guests can enjoy local dishes, cold drinks, and fresh seafood.  Thus, it attracts visitors who appreciate simplicity and authenticity. 

The area also supports sea kayaking. Since the coastline includes caves and narrow inlets, kayaking offers a fun and adventurous way to explore. Several guided tours operate from the beach and include stops at Loutro, Marmara, and even the edge of Samaria Gorge.
