Avlonia Beach Chios lies on the southern coast of the island, just 5 km from the medieval village of Mesta and about 40 km southwest of Chios Town. Unlike busier tourist spots, this beach offers a peaceful, natural setting with rugged hills, smooth pebbles, and crystal-clear waters.
To reach the beach, visitors have to follow the paved road heading south from Mesta. Although the final section narrows into a dirt path, most vehicles can handle the route without difficulty. After parking, visitors have to take a short 10 to 15-minute walk to the shoreline.
The water remains clear and shallow near the shore, which makes it safe for families with children. Additionally, the area provides excellent conditions for snorkeling.
Despite its remote atmosphere, Avlonia Beach Chios offers a few helpful amenities. A small canteen operates during the summer season, selling snacks, soft drinks and coffee. Also, there are sunbeds and umbrellas available for rent. However, the beach does not feature restaurants, public restrooms.
During weekdays, the beach tends to stay especially quiet, with a mix of local families and a few tourists enjoying the calm. For the best experience, arriving early in the day when the beach remains cooler and less windy is highly recommended.
