Afissos Pelion is a charming coastal village located on the southwestern side of Mount Pelion, approximately 25 kilometers from the city of Volos. Built amphitheatrically on a lush hillside that descends into the calm waters of the Pagasetic Gulf, Afissos blends mountain beauty with seaside tranquility.

Whitewashed houses with red-tiled roofs line narrow stone-paved streets, while olive groves and citrus trees add a fresh, green backdrop. According to legend, Jason and the Argonauts stopped here to gather water before embarking on their mythological journey. Even today, natural springs flow through the village, offering cool, refreshing water during the hot summer months. 

Afissos features three beautiful beaches, each catering to different tastes. First, Kallifteri Beach lies closest to the village center. It offers sunbeds, umbrellas, and a few lively beach bars. Just a short walk away, Ampovos Beach attracts families with its wide sandy shoreline and shallow, calm waters. For visitors who prefer a quieter setting, Lagoudi Beach provides a more secluded and peaceful experience. 

Along the seafront promenade, visitors will find several tavernas and cafés that serve fresh seafood, local wines, and traditional Pelion dishes. Small shops nearby sell handmade crafts, honey, olive oil, and other regional products.

Although Afissos Pelion remains relatively quiet compared to larger resorts, it still offers a range of accommodations. From cozy guesthouses to modern seaside apartments, every visitor can find a comfortable place to stay. Since public transportation is limited, renting a car makes it easier to explore the entire Pelion peninsula.
