Agii Saranta Beach is a beautiful coastal destination in northeastern Pelion, near the village of Zagora. It lies about 50 kilometers from Volos and combines mountain greenery with the deep blue of the Aegean Sea. With golden sand, smooth pebbles, and clear waters, the beach creates an inviting setting for relaxation and recreation.

Most visitors notice the beach’s landmark rock, called “The Monk” or Kalogeros. This large formation rises near the shore and resembles a kneeling figure. As a result, swimmers and climbers often gather there to take photos or dive into the sea. The water remains shallow in many spots, so children and less experienced swimmers can enjoy it safely.

Although Agii Saranta feels natural and quiet, it still offers essential amenities. Visitors can rent sunbeds and umbrellas. Several beach bars and tavernas operate along the shoreline. For example, Sarande Beach Bar Restaurant serves seafood, salads, and drinks with a view of the sea.  Furthermore, guests can find restrooms and showers near the dining areas.

Because the terrain includes hills and forest, hikers should wear proper footwear and bring water. Reaching the beach requires some planning. Drivers usually travel through the village of Zagora and then take a winding 8-kilometer road downhill. The road remains narrow, so careful driving is necessary. Alternatively, travelers can ride a public bus from Volos to Zagora and then take a taxi to the beach.

During peak season, Agii Saranta Beach becomes busy, especially on weekends. Therefore, early arrival helps secure a good spot. While food and drinks are available, carrying extra water and sunscreen is still a good idea. Shade is limited, so sun protection becomes important throughout the day.
