Mavrospilia Beach Kimolos stretches along the western side of the island. It lies about 6 kilometers from Chora, the island’s main settlement. Travelers reach it either by dirt road from Chora or Psathi port, or by hiking trails that link it to neighboring beaches. 

The beach extends wide and open, covered in golden sand that shines under the sun. Volcanic rocks and small caves frame both sides of the bay, creating a striking natural setting. The water remains clear and turquoise, while the seabed combines soft sand with scattered stones. Tamarisk trees grow along the shore and provide scattered shade, which offers natural relief during hot afternoons.

Mavrospilia Beach Kimolos also attracts attention for its serene atmosphere. During the morning and early afternoon, visitors enjoy peace and quiet, since crowds stay small. As the day progresses, more people arrive, especially toward evening. The beach faces west, so it delivers some of the most spectacular sunsets on Kimolos. At dusk, the rocks and sand reflect deep red and orange hues, and the horizon glows brilliantly. 

Access requires some preparation. Cars and scooters reach the beach via a dirt road, though careful driving ensures a safe trip. Parking spaces stand close to the sand. Public buses from Chorio and Psathi drop passengers a short walk away, so those without private transport still reach the bay.

Facilities remain limited, which adds to the unspoiled feel of the beach. A small canteen occasionally serves drinks and light snacks, but no full tavernas operate directly on the sand. Because of this, most visitors bring water, food, and umbrellas to stay comfortable.

The area around Mavrospilia also offers opportunities for exploration. Rock formations and caves invite short climbs, while nearby Ellinika Beach holds archaeological interest with traces of an ancient submerged city.
