Skotina Beach lies along the southern coast of the Thermaic Gulf, in Pieria, about 100 km south of Thessaloniki. It sits between the towns of Leptokarya and Platamonas. Because of its location, it offers excellent views of Mount Olympus and Platamonas Castle. Moreover, the beach remains easily accessible from the national highway, making it convenient for all travelers.
The beach stretches for about two kilometers. Soft golden sand covers most of the shore, while small pebbles appear in some areas. At the same time, the clear blue sea stays shallow near the coast. This makes it ideal for children and casual swimmers.
Furthermore, Skotina Beach holds a Blue Flag certification. This award confirms the beach’s high standards for water quality, cleanliness, and safety. Lifeguards remain on-site during the busy summer months. Additionally, showers, changing cabins, and toilets improve the comfort level for beachgoers.
Along the beach, visitors can find several cafés and beach bars. These places offer cold drinks, snacks, and full meals throughout the day. Many also rent sunbeds and umbrellas. Parking does not present a problem. A well-paved road leads directly to the beach, and large parking areas sit nearby.
The nearby village of Paralia Skotinas also provides tavernas, mini-markets, and rental rooms, making overnight stays simple. The natural beauty of the area adds to its charm. Mount Olympus rises in the background, while Platamonas Castle rests nearby on a hill. Many visitors take advantage of this by combining beach time with hiking or sightseeing. For example, a short drive leads to the mountain village of Ano Skotina, which offers forest trails and traditional architecture.
Visitors can also explore nearby destinations such as Nei Pori and Leptokarya. These towns offer more restaurants, stores, and cultural attractions. For even more adventure, boat tours and day trips around the Olympus Riviera add variety to any stay.
