Amitis Beach Naxos is a quiet, undeveloped beach on the northern coast of the island. It is located approximately 8 kilometers northeast of Chora. Access is available through two nearby villages—Eggares and Galini. After passing through either village, a short dirt road leads directly to the beach. Parking is available near the shore and is generally free.

The beach stretches for around 700 meters and features soft, pale sand mixed with occasional pebbles. In contrast to the island’s popular southern beaches, Amitis remains uncrowded, even in peak season.

Although the area is beautiful, it is not developed for mass tourism. There are no sunbeds or umbrellas, but showers are available and lifeguards are on duty during high season. Also, a small beach café is located at one end of the bay, serving light snacks, drinks, and coffee.

The beach faces north, making it vulnerable to strong northern winds. During such days, the sea can become rough, with strong currents. Therefore, caution is necessary, particularly for children or inexperienced swimmers. On the other hand, windy conditions attract windsurfers and kitesurfers, who enjoy the open space and wave action.

Additionally, the natural landscape surrounding Amitis Beach Naxos adds to its charm. With no large buildings or resorts in sight, the area remains largely untouched.

Nearby, the villages of Eggares and Galini provide a glimpse of local island life. Traditional tavernas serve local dishes, and small accommodations are available. Eggares also offers a small olive press museum and scenic valley walks. However, public transport options are very limited. Buses may run once or twice per day in summer, so renting a car or scooter is highly recommended.
