Skala is the main port and commercial center of the island, with several shops, restaurants, and cafes lining the narrow streets.

The village itself is quaint and picturesque, with white-washed buildings and blue-domed churches. One of the main attractions in Skala is the imposing Monastery of St. John the Theologian, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Visitors can also explore the winding streets and alleyways of the village, visit the local markets, or take a stroll along the harbor.
